From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in power within the city.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure are included.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 ended with a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to undertake their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Strategists, and Questers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group knows exactly where to go next after a intense first encounter with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose death started the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The antagonist then settled his debts and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Cyd close behind.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each member has a individual motive to leave the city the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a hostile place.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could enable the team enter locations they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The rogue and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the family.
This results in them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in search of Casimir.
What’s Next?
From episode three’s follow-up content, we discover that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Seekers and Strategists groups.
Fans can expect finding out which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
